The Seven Witches by the Shore

RABBIT ON THE PULPIT

Part 33 “The Seven Witches by the Shore”

No death can take place,
Lest, oh behest, blame it on the witch,
In this part of the world,
Like the seven witches by the shore,
Two facing south,
Three facing North..

The winds from the shore,
Reiterate the intemitent nature,
Of the waves by the shoreline
The Seven Witches by the shore.

Thier heads bow,
Each by the knee and elbow,
Beneath the water, they draw,
Gnawing their teethless jaws like a crow..

The ones facing north ,
Thier eyebrows are shrunk,
Those facing south, sunk,
May be, may be not drunk..
The seven witches by the shore.

They may be devoid or not, of life,
The tremors of life like love or hatred,
They did not partake in this fate,
Whizzing winds of Namurugu,
Trees, palms, papyrus bend,
All in unison.

Look,
Stubborn velvet monkeys,
One male, another female,
Awesomely stare, no scare,
The scare crows, also, scared,
Slowly they crawl,
As they adore,
The seven witches by the shore,

You and i, for the lost numbers,
Of the Seven witches by the shore
