Benard Makuba Mujuni

Benard M. Mujuni, son of Makuba, was educated at Rutooma Modern Primary School, St. Kaggwa, then St. Charles Lwanga, where he attended Primary, Secondary and High School respectively. He later joined Makerere University Kampala (MUK) where he attained two Honourable Bachelor’s degrees in Social Sciences and in Laws (LLB). He then attained a postgraduate M.A in Human Rights (MUK) and dual Master’s in Business Administration (E4Impact) from Martyrs University Nkozi.

He attained core professional courses in Leadership & Sustainability, UN Systems and Global Challenges, International Corporation and Development at the UN University in Japan. He is the Commissioner – Equity and Rights in the Government of Uganda, where among other notable achievements, he led the process that established the first Equal Opportunities Commission in Africa. 

He served as Assistant Commissioner Labour Inspectorate, where he mediated over 1,000 cases involving vulnerable workers affected by inequity and lack of diversity at work. He is currently the Social Risks Management contact for the Government and World Bank and works to promote, protect and ensure access to remedies for vulnerable people.

Benard has authored articles in leading dailies, magazines and papers, attracting over one million in readership. He has authored over 500 unpublished poems and is the brain behind Nyungu Yamawe Forest Park. His popular facebook page in BenMak Savior. He spends his precious time with his family, the two boys and the hounds at home. He also spends his time creating exciting safe spaces and writing poetry.
